He was scratched from the finals that night due to injury, which cost him the title but did not diminish what his runs had proven. In 2016, Silver Spurs chose to give him a full recovery year rather than rush him back. He returned in 2017, finished 4th at the NRBC Open Derby, and then was retired to the breeding shed in 2018 — a decision made in the horse's best interest before any further competition risk. He also won the CRHA Open Futurity Championship and the Best of the West Open Futurity Championship during his career.
